Walgreens Still There For It's Customers

In there most recent contract negoations Walgreens and Express Script failed to come to an agreement leaving those with Express Script employee plans at a loss as to where to go for their prescriptions. Most having to travel more to get their prescriptions filled and at a higher cost. Probably because Express Script is trying to get more people to use their mail in prescription program. Sadly the inconvenience has been to the consumer.

Fortunately Walgreens is not leaving these people out and have created the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club to help them continue to still get the great service and pricing they are used to with Walgreens convenient locations near nearly every home. Walgreens is offering a special discount on an annual membership for it's Prescription Savings Program for only $10 a year for a family membership which includes spouse and dependents 22 and younger and pets. Puppies vs Babies Which Is Cuter?

Now I've had puppies in my life of course, but as a Grandmother of 12 I can say I still love Babies more! Yes both are cute and you want to hold and cuddle with both, but there are huge differences that put Babies on the top of my preference list.

First off Babies don't smell bad when you bathe them, let's face it, a wet dog just stinks! Babies only chew on what you give them not everything that's in your closet. Yes, both require potty training, but I'd much rather deal with diapers than a puddle or pile on the floor. And babies are such a joy to teach new things and give back so much more. A puppy just tilts it's head and gives you that "what?" look.

If it was up to me I would have 20 more grand-babies to cuddle and hold. Hehe!

Your Boys Will Love Boy Scouts of America

dENIZEN Jeans Stand Up To Work

Living on a small farm jeans are a part of everyday life and we depend on them to be sturdy and lasting a long time, holding up to all the rugged work that needs to be done. Recently I was able to review dENIZEN jeans a new brand available at Target and introduced by Levi Strauss & Company.

Hubby was extremely happy to try them out. He wears jeans everyday and believe me he has worn some brands that were lucky to last a week. Not good. But we were very happy to see that the Levi Strauss standards held up to the quality of these dENIZEN jeans.

We received the 236 regular straight leg jeans in the classic denim blue color. The fit was great and comfortable to work in or play in. With the wonderful double stitching that Levi-Strauss is known for the quality really stood up to the farm work test.

What we liked: Nice big pockets to carry all the necessary things in. Good quality denim, sturdy stitching that should hold up to many wearings and washes. Nice fit. Great pricing that is affordable; just $22.99 at Target.

What we didn't like: Made in Mexico. We are of the opinion that American brand products should be made in America. That's just us.

Overall we were very please with the dENIZEN jeans. Available in sizes and styles for the whole family and at great prices! Great for those families who are getting ready to send kids off to school again. Stop in at Target and see for yourself.

Dehydrating Cabbage

I was never fond of cabbage as a child but I grew to like cooked cabbage in soups and stews. Hubby on the other hand loves coleslaw. Because our garden cabbage did fairly well this season I was able to give a couple away to my daughters family. We enjoyed some for coleslaw for hubby and I decided to dehydrate some for later use in some warm winters soups. Yummy!

Preparation is pretty simple. Wash and remove outer leaves. There are two ways you can cut your cabbage for dehydrating. You can cut it into one inch cubes to dehydrate or into 1/4" slices as if your were cutting it for coleslaw which is what I did. Be sure to remove the core, it's much tougher and has less flavor. Just give it to the chickens to munch on or put it in your compost pile. Then spread the cabbage strips out on your trays. I use the Excalibur 9 tray dehydrator and I love it!

Set your temperature at 110 to 125 degrees, no higher. I like to set it at 110 and let it run a little longer. 6-`12 hours. Then just store your dehydrated strip in a canning jar on the shelf in your cupboard. You can grab a bit to add right into your soups when needed.

I Hired Blogelina!

After ~~weeks~~ Months of trying to get this blog transferred to my new wordpress self hosted site at JustHost and being disappointed in the help I had, I've finally hired Blogelina.com to do the transfer for me. I was surprised that I got a response right away to get my information so they could begin the process. And it was so affordable! Only $85. I'm taking a big sigh of relief right now. It's like the weight of the world has been taken off my shoulders.

About the only thing I was able to do by myself is get the WP installed and my GFC transfered over. I guess that's something. But after the scare I had with having it hacked the first time I've been afraid to touch it myself. Thank God for Blogelina!

In the summertime we need to protect our lips from UV rays and wind damage. One more thing I received was a fabulous Carmex Picnic Blanket! All folded up with a little end pouch to carry my lip balms and maybe sunglasses or silverware. The blanket unfolds with one side having a wonderful stripped design in bright colors and the other side a smooth surface for laying on the grass. This side will prevent a lot of the grass pickup that most picnic blankets seem to do, so I loved this! It's also quite large so it will fit all your picnic needs or use it to let baby play on. It's super soft and comfy! Perfect place for an afternoon siesta under a tree. And it all folds right back up with a hand velcro closure and easy carry handle! Light weight enough that even a toddler could manage it!

Here at Baba’s we pay particular attention to natural products and finding a good natural bar soap to use that was gentle on the skin was very important. Both hubby and I are at the age where our skin dries out so easily so maintaining a soft skin balance was important. I was thrilled to be able to review Tropical Traditions 100% Natural and Pure Bar Soaps and was very excited to find that they weren’t drying to our skin.

Available in two scents, Lavender and Tea Tree these bar soaps are made from organic virgin coconut oil and scented with organic essential oils from lavender or tea tree depending on the bar you use. I loved both scents neither of which was overpowering which was good. But we were most happy with how they made our skin feel. Soft, not dry and not slimy with oils that you might get with other hand soaps. Just clean soft skin as a result.

Rant, Cry

I am reposting all my posts back here. I’ve tried to do the WP transfer myself. I can’t do it! No help from hosting at justhost. They don’t support WP except for installation. No help from my helper Heather either. I’m a failure. I give up. I’ve just waisted money on a hosting service and domain that I can do nothing with. Was doing ok for a while and then it was hacked and I had to start over. Tried to export this over there and no go.

Yes, I’m in tears right now. I have to repost some giveaways and other posts here. So look for them. So sorry to those few who had entered before. You may want to enter again to be sure you are in the system. I’m sorry.

Still Some Snags - Hacked

It's Happening, Yay!

A quick post to let you know the WP transfer is taking place and should be complete in a few days. I am very excited!

I'm sure you've all been wondering where I've gone and why I haven't posted here in the past few days. I've been working on http://babasfarmlife.com/ and there is where you'll find me from now on. Thanks to my Kaboodle friends I ran across this newest fashion trend and was amazed at how unique and versatile it was. Heel Condoms! A way to make your shoes a conversation piece or change up the look to match your clothing style/colors. Only have black or white heels? No problem, just add Heel Condoms and you'll have a new pair of heels to wear out to the club tonight.

Add feathers, leather, ribbons, studs to your heels and you're all set. What a marvelous idea Heel Condoms are! The retail is only about $20, certainly a lot less than a new pair of heels and you can change them up and use them over and over again. Keep a couple of these in your wardrobe and you'll never be without the right heels again.

These are just a few of their many styles to choose from. Normally I'm not that into fashion trends but I can certainly see how worthwhile having a couple of Heel Condoms on hand would be. Pretty nifty idea!

Usually I see a title like this and think the studios must be getting desperate and there is no way this could be any good, but after watching the trailer I think it might be pretty interesting to go see. Starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Adam Beach, Noah Ringer, and Ana de la Reguera. It's got the quintessential stranger who rolls into town and no one knows where he came from - not even him. This Universal Studios film is an action/adventure, Science Fiction, rated PG 13 it's a sure movie to see for entertainement!

Remedy Your Partner's Snoring

It is fairly common that people lay awake at night due to snoring coming from their partner. In fact, over half of partnered adults claim to have a snoring partner, and six out of ten people admit to being snorers. Luckily, there has been an increase of information on snoring. No longer do you have to have sleepless nights or sleep in the guest bedroom because you cannot tolerate the noises coming from your partner. There are solutions that can help alleviate and hopefully eliminate snoring.

For starters if it has been years since your last mattress purchase, you may want to consider adding it to the list of things to buy. Sleeping on the proper mattress allows for a more restful sleep and can reduce snoring tendencies. Additionally, a new mattress can help reduce aches and pains that are often caused by sleeping on a poor or old mattress. However, if buying a new mattress does not do the trick you can always consider these other options:

Ø Exercise

Ø Do not drink alcohol before bed

Ø Sleep on your side

Ø Use a mouth guard

Ø Seek medical attention

The above list are just a few things you or your partner, whoever the snorer is, can try for a better nights sleep for both of you. If all else fails, it is probably wise to see a doctor as your partner’s snoring can be caused by a sleep disorder call sleep apnea. A doctor can also better identify any other areas that may be causing your partner to snore.

I Took The Cystex Better Bladder Challenge!

Reading about the recent begging being done in Arizona on Cragslist I made an effort to check our local area to see if any of this was going on here in Colorado. I did find one in our area although perhaps not as bad as those this Arizona blogger found, it does raise the question of just how much these people are truly in need, and if this is a regular occurrence in every state? I realize that with our economy in downfall that people are hurting, but I though that Craigslist was a way to sell items and services, to give things away etc.. It makes me wonder if those who have generally been found on street corners have now come into the computer age at their local libraries for free online use of their computers to post on Craigslist for begging.

I'm of the impression that most people are hardworking, not relying on handouts from the government or anyone else to sustain them. America was founded by people who came here and scratched out a way to live for their families. Even during the depression those who fell on hard times were willing to work to feed their families. It's sad to see a generation of people who believe they are owed everything and live on entitlements and begging.

I've been told that I am too kind-hearted and should be on guard more of people of this nature. I believe most people in America are kind and considerate of others and generous in their giving when they see a need. Perhaps America is becoming another India with beggars stopping traffic on the streets, when people are accosted where ever they go. It makes me wonder what is happening to America. Oz The Great And Powerful Starts Production

At the brand new Raleigh Studios in Pontiac, Michigan on Monday the start of production for Oz The Great An Powerful began on the Disney Film telling the story of the beginnings of QZ. How this great and powerful wizard came to be, with an all star cast out of this world and into the world of Kansas storms gone wild.

Based on L. Frank Baum's characters from The Wizard of Oz; the screenplay was written by Mitchell Kapner ("The Whole Nine Yards") and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole Robots); produced by film veteran Joe Roth and executive producers Grant Curtis (the "Spider Man" triology), (Drag Me To Hell), Philip Steuer ("The Chronicles of Narnia" series) and Palak Patel.

James Franco ("127 Hours") will play the young wizard; Zach Braff ("Scrubs" "The Garden State") at Franco's circus assistant; Mila Kunis ("Black Swan") as the witch Theodora; Rachel Wesiz ("The Constant Gardener") as Kunis's sister Evanora and Michelle Williams ("Brokeback Mountain" "Blue Valentine") as Glinda the Good Witch.

"Oz The Great And Powerful" will be released through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on March 8, 2012. Certainly one to watch for when looking forward to great family entertainment.

As our ever busy schedules continue to fill up, some of us are in search of faster ways to sneak in a workout. Or, maybe the treadmill doesn’t hold the luster it used to for many, and we are looking for a workout that has spark. Whatever your reasons, it is most likely the case that you too are ready for some new trends in exercise.

Forgo the Gym- Going to the gym became a popular trend back in the 90’s, but it is quickly being realized that at times the gym is nothing but boring. While the gym does provide fundamental tools to help you get and stay in shape, it also can be rather mundane. Therefore, in an effort to maintain sanity and decrease boredom you should try exercising outside the gym. A few suggestions are swimming, biking and team sports.
Make it a Group Effort- It is often hard to motivate one’s self; however, if you find a few workout buddies you will be surprised to find an increase in motivation. The reason is, as human beings we are trained to not let others down; therefore, leaving your running partner to run alone will bring on guilt that will hurt far worse than the actual run. Group efforts in exercise should always be a trend that is in style.
Yoga and Pilates- These two forms of exercise are without a doubt the latest trends, and probably for some good reasons. Not only can yoga strengthen your core, but it can provide both mind and body relaxation. In our pressure cooker society we all need a little relaxation, so why not get both a workout and relaxation at the same time with yoga?
Extreme Sports- Finally, there is a significant increase in extreme sport trends. These sports include anything outside the norm from snowboarding to mountain biking; extreme sports offer a thrill that is sure to spark your exercising enthusiasm. However, it is important to keep in mind that these sports also offer a higher injury risk, so proceed with caution when trying any new extreme sport. Weekend WP Progress

I spent the weekend on the phone with GoDaddy and Just Host to try to straighten out my WP transfer. It seems my domain was in a private setting so the domain transfer wouldn't go through. I had to first try going through Google to see if they had it set to private, then GoDaddy who just sent me back to Google once again. No help there. Finally had to go through Domains By Proxy to get the privacy setting taken off so the transfer is going through now. What a mess!

I understand it's fast and quick to start on Google but if you plan at all on getting your own hosting some time in the future I would recommend you do it before starting with Google. Just my opinion. It is probably a good idea if you are just starting a blog to go ahead and start on at WP then if you want to get other hosting or use their hosting services it's much easier. This process has been 6 months in the making and it's been a real headache even with having Heather Bixler from Wham Newbie helping me.

It seems once you register a domain with a company they don't want to let it go and many will automatically set it at private or locked to prevent it from transferring to another. The process in getting it unlocked is not quick but it can be done. Just for future reference.

Hopefully it will be all completed soon. Pray for me, LOL.

George Washington Carver-John Perry Christian Encounters Series Review

Perhaps like you when I was in school I only received a cursory introduction to George Washington Carver so I wanted to know more about this man and just what it was that made him so great. The quick mention in History class just wasn't enough. Like me you may have heard that George Washington Carver developed 145 uses for the peanut and thought "Well a lot of people have done things like this, What makes this man so worth mentioning?"

I am so glad that I received this book from Book Sneeze to review because this is one man that every American should know about! Imagine being born a slave, sickly in constitution, small in size, losing your mother at a very young age, being raised by a white family in the era following the Civil War when the race conflict was at it's infancy. George Washington overcame all this becoming a pioneer in race relations and earned the respect of Americans around the country. With a deep faith in his creator he helped all people who came to him, taught students the secrets found in nature and giving them a sturdy foundation and belief in what they could accomplish, even gave them money to help those who were desperate. George Washington Carver saw a need and filled it whenever he could. Truly a man of God who was greatly blessed by him at a time when former slaves had it most difficult. He not only raised the bar for his own race, but for every American.

Without giving away everything that you'll find in this book I will say that it is well worth reading for everyone. John Perry has given a more complete consideration to the life of George Washington Carver that you'll find anywhere. I highly recommend reading this book and give it 5 stars for the knowledge and encouragement it gives to anyone going through hard times.

Surviving The School Year Advice For Students

As students enter another year at school many of them are entering a new transition in their lives, new friends to meet, new teachers, perhaps even a new school entirely in a new town. It can be scary to say the least. But there are things you can do to ensure that you have a great school year and success in all these areas without worry.

1. First of all Smile! Don't walk in with a frightened look on your face. If you smile at people they are more likely to be friends with you and teachers and school officials like to see smiles too. Smiles make friends!

2. Put and keep your schoolwork at the top of your to do list! It comes first and your grade results and what you retain will stick with you the rest of your life. I still remember most of what I learned in school.

3. Always be prepared for your school day. Homework already done. Have the right books with you and the supplies you need for each class that day. Your day will go much more smoothly.

4. Get involved! Find something extracurricular that you enjoy and join in! Whether it's sports, drama, choir, band, the school paper, or a club. Join in and have fun! It gives you something to look forward to.

5. Study and pay attention when in class. It's not hard to learn new things if you know how. Don't talk while the teacher is talking and pay attention to what they say. Take notes and review them when you need to. You'll retain the information much more if you do it this way. Save the talking to friends for after class. You'll set an example for other students to follow if you do.

6. Get the best locks for your locker and bikes you can find. Master Lock has the best that I know of and they're in fun colors and easy to use. Not having to worry about someone messing with your belongings will make your school year go much easier.

Just enjoy yourself this year and have a blast. This year won't come again in your life so make the most of it and you'll do great.

Salad Makeovers For Summer

With temperatures reaching over 100 degrees during the summer months, sometimes a good salad for dinner time is all our energy will manage. Of course we like to shake things up when preparing our salads so we'll experiment a bit with ingredients fresh from our garden along with store bought meats or more. Here are a few of our latest that I think you'll love.

Sausage Salad
Torn Iceberg Lettuce
Torn Spinach Leaves
sliced cucumber
sliced young zucchini
sliced tomato
slice hard boiled egg
1/4" slices of brats sausages pre-cooked.

Kipper Snack Salad
Virtually the same as above substituting the brats slices with Kipper Snacks and eliminating the egg slices.

One thing about salads is you can add your favorite toppings to the mix. Olives, sesame seeds, croutons and of course a pinch of salt and pepper to flavor. We're especially thankful to have a garden for our summer eating.

Normally when I eat salad I like to taste the fresh vegetables and don't use any dressings. My husband on the other hand loves dressings on his salads so he'll add a touch of ranch, vinaigrette, or another flavor. Both are a delicious way to try new salads and to each his own.

I do apologize for the poor picture quality. I'm using a Kodak and haven't really done much of this type of photography before so the focus is out. I have a Cannon on my wish list, lol.

Say It Isn't So! Borders Will Be No More!

Sadly as a result of not finding a buyer, Borders will be closing it's doors on 399 stores with nearly 11,000 employees. It's a sad day for booklovers everywhere who have depended on Borders for their books and a quiet place to read and have a cup of coffee. A place to take the kids to make a purchase when they've been especially good.

It's a loss to the reading community, to publishers, and certainly to the nearly 11,000 employees who will now be looking for work. Where do you go after working at Borders? Employment lines will be filled and sadly you can expect to see more of this in the coming months. Though after the sale of it's assets Borders will be able to pay it's creditors with no expected problems, other companies may not be so lucky.

I so loved reading this book! I can actually see this as the next big movie screen success! Though it leaves you thinking and wondering which is what a good book should do. I would love to see these on the big screen and wonder how Hollywood would put these scenes together. Truly a fascinating read that I highly recommend! Available at Bookstores everywhere and also in e-book form. A must read that I give 5 stars for it's excitement and insight!

I started out blogging about our home remodel of our 1888 Victorian Stone Country Farm House which now has a blog all it's own at This Stone House. I then added family experiences living the country life and gardening and crafts then before I knew it Giveaways(which lately seem to have taken over). I don't know how that happens but all the better for my readers. Living the country life in a multi-generational household is fun all the time and I love sharing our antics with my readers. Of course as a grandparent the little ones have stolen my heart and they always come first.

Now on to my giveaway! I love reading and passing on a good book just makes sense to me. So today I'm passing on several great books to one winners. Colorado Power Outage

For those of you who aren't aware, the State of Colorado yesterday suffered a major power outage. Those of us affected spent 5+ hours without electricity, phone, computer, even radio stations were out. Though perhaps 5 hours is easy enough to endure, it's also been unbearably hot so I'm sure there were plenty who suffered. At nearly midnight tonight it's still 81 degrees inside my house.

As for me it meant another day that I couldn't work out my WP transfer problems with my blog again. I'm about to give up on the help I'm getting. In fact I'm about to give up on the entire idea. It's so frustrating. Trying to get Google, GoDaddy, and Just Host to communicate and get this done is a pain in the tush. And I'm in tears. I'll try again tomorrow.

In order to switch over to WP, I had to turn off the re-direct which made me a blogspot once again. Uggghhh. So now you can't even find me unless you add blogspot to the URL address. I don't even know how to publish in WP and have Heather Bixler from WAHM Newbie helping me to get it transfered on my host provider. Problem is she is very busy so not a lot of time to help me. I'm officially in panic mode now because all my stats are now lost.

Questions About China's Policies.

After reading a post on The Ready Blog concerning China's inability to successfully regulate their food industry and the risks that it's put to their own people, I'm left wondering about all of these companies who have closed their US plants and set up plants in China. China's population is so huge that perhaps concerns relating to health risks is overlooked in view of the larger profits to be made by the country's elite. Will it also be true of US companies who now call China home? Will these companies fail to inspect products produced in China because their regulations are lax?

Something to think about and consider before buying anything made in China. You can rest assured that The Ready Store does not buy products from China.

The Raccoon Dinner-How it Turned Out

I know you're all waiting to hear how our Raccoon dinner turned out, so I'll tell you it was good and interesting. Tasting somewhere between duck and roast beef, it was very rich. Daughter had cooked it all day in the crock pot so it was nice and tender and shredded easily like pulled pork. It was served like a dark gravy over mashed potatoes along with corn and sweet potatoes.

Though most agreed it was very rich, there wasn't any wild taste to speak of, at least nothing that would prevent someone from eating it. And if there was nothing else to eat it would make a fine meal. But none of us could say we loved it enough to have it all the time.

But then, that was just one recipe she tried. Other recipes may be more appealing in their results. But know that Raccoon is certainly worth trying and good to eat. Not something to shy away from. Now I can add it to my growing list of different meats I've eaten. We'll probably try our hands at another recipe some other time.

Silver Girl by Elin Hilderbrand Blog Tour

There are some people who's lives get lost in the shuffle of day to day living until one day things explode and you find yourself with nothing. That's what's happened to Meredith Martin Delinn who's husband Freddy was found to have cheated billions out from investors and now Meredith is facing homelessness.

To fight the ongoing depression that results from this mess she joins her longtime best friend Connie Flute with problems of her own and they decide to spend the summer in Nantucket to hide, heal, and examine their lives. But Nantucket isn't a total sanctuary because Connie's brother Toby who happens to be Meredith's high school boyfriend shows up. Meredith must find a balance between the life she had with her husband and the life she could have had with Toby. Connie still healing from her husband death waits to hear from an estranged daughter, and Toby has perhaps finally grown up.

Nantucket gives the three a way to rediscover friendship, love and forgiveness. Author Elin Hilderbrand lives on Nantucket and can attest to the beauty and healing powers of the island and it's inhabitants. All the places and experiences of Nantucket are here in Silver Girl says Elin who has lived on the island for 18 years and is the backdrop of all her 10 novels. Could there be a more beautiful place to write? Maybe, but I'll let Elin tell you of her days there:

1. The South Shore – “In SILVER GIRL, Meredith and Connie live in a house on the beach in Tom Nevers. I can be found, any given summer day, about three miles West on the same beautiful coastline. The beach right behind my house is called Ladies Beach. I pack a lunch, and my notebook and pen, hop on my bike, and ride to the beach. I have written all ten of my novels on Ladies Beach. It's paradise.”

1. Bartlett Farm – “This family-owned farm is the largest on the island. In summer, I run on a road that cuts between fields filled with flowers – zinnias, snapdragons, gladioli – it’s like moving through a Renoir painting. There is a farm market where I provision almost every day –buying corn on the cob, tomatoes, and prepared food like my favorite broccoli slaw. It’s paradise.”

2. Town – “Town is the beating heart of Nantucket. It’s distinguished by cobblestone streets and the antique homes of whaling captains. My dear friend, Illya Kagan, Nantucket’s foremost landscape painter, can often be found en plein air rendering the historic buildings. Three of my favorite stops are:

· Nantucket Bookworks. The ultimate independent bookshop, which also has a phenomenal kids section and fun gifts and cards.

· The Company of the Cauldron. Meredith and Connie go on a date with Dan Flynn to this, Elin’s favorite restaurant on the island. It is a one-room restaurant with a fixed menu which changes each day. The decor is dried flowers and copper pots and antique farming implements and there is a harp player nightly. What many don't know is that the Cauldron has one table in the back garden, which seats two to twelve people. When possible, my husband and I book this secret back table.

· Erica Wilson Needlepoint. “I can’t sew, I admit,” says Elin, but the great thing about Erica Wilson, in addition to being a world-class needlepoint resource, is that it has the most amazing boutique for women’s clothing and handcrafted jewelry. This is my go-to place any time I need a party dress or a new bikini or a t-shirt or jeans, and it has the best earrings on the island. I never leave empty-handed.”

3. Polpis Road bike path – “This 16-mile loop is not only a great workout, it’s a smorgasbord of Nantucket’s prettiest scenery. I always bike out the Milestone Road, with the “Nantucket savannah” on my left. The Milestone Road ends in the charming village of Sconset, where one will find rose-covered cottages and the famous Sconset Market, where one can and should stop for a mid-ride refreshment. Then I ride home on the Polpis Road, past the peppermint-stick of Sankaty Lighthouse, past ponds and horse farms. It’s paradise.”

4. Great Point – “Nantucket’s one true destination. To reach this spit of land at the top of Nantucket, you must have a four wheel drive vehicle and a special beach permit. I also recommend a picnic lunch and a beach chair. Great Point is a pure seaside experience – it’s quiet, remote, pristine. The Great Point Lighthouse is occasionally open to tourists. I climbed it this past Fourth of July with my kids and we could see out over the entire island. Later, the kids swam in the gentle waves and we saw seals swimming off-shore. In SILVER GIRL I give Meredith and Connie and Dan and Toby one glorious day here. In that rare instance, I was willing to share my paradise.”

I loved reading Silver Girl and fell in love with the island myself and could picture myself walking along the shore or riding in a boat catching fish, having a lobster fest. On Our Dinner Menu Tonight

Yep, for the first time in my life I'm going to try Racoon! Many tout how delicious it is and my daughter is preparing our meal tonight similar to this recipe for the family to enjoy. I'll let you know if I like it or not afterwards. We have lots of raccoons in the area which can become pests, but if things get really bad at least we'll know there is meat available. And who knows, maybe I'll end up canning some or making jerky. LOL

I had heard so much about Nutella but had never tried it myself so when I got the chance to try some I jumped on it. Nutella is made from Hazelnuts which I love, and cocoa which I can't do without so I was sure I would like it and I was right.

Nutella is a Hazelnut spread made with roasted hazelnuts, skim milk, cocoa, and palm oil. Each jar contains more than 50 hazelnuts, but no hydrogenated oil or trans fats. It's low in sodium and contains no artificial colors or preservatives. Nor does it contain any peanuts or come in contact with any peanuts in it's processing. Good to know for those who are allergic to peanuts.

This is a sweet spread that you may grow to love too much, but a little on whole wheat toast, bagel, or on a breakfast wrap with fresh fruit and juice can get the kids off to a good start in the mornings and is quick and easy for a fast breakfast or snack treat. I'm going to keep a jar on hand for when I need a chocolate treat.

Elyse Luray's Great Wines Under $20-Book Review

If you love history or antiques like I do then you're very familiar with Elyse Luray and her talents as an auctioneer and appraiser of antiques and collectibles. For the average housewife, finding the time to learn about wines and which is better to serve at any given dinner, we just don't have the time. But now we don't have to because Elyse Luray has made it easy for us in her new book Great Wines Under $20.

For the most part Elyse say's it's all a matter of taste and to buy what you like. In her book she has given us 200 fabulous wines to try and all under $20. Elyse says you don't have to spend a lot to get a great tasting wine. She shows you how to read a wine label, discusses corks or screw tops, which wines need to breath, correct temperatures for serving, which wines to serve with fish or beef and so much more in the fabulous book!

You don't have to have a lot of dinner parties to enjoy a good wine for yourself. You may be an everyday homemaker like myself who likes to sit back with a good book and a glass of wine to relax. Put this book on your wish list and pick up copies for those you know who love wines. It's filled with great information that can make the simplest of us look like connoisseurs. Keep this one in the kitchen with your recipe books to have on hand! I loved reading it and am now off to try some new wines!

Elyse has been a featured auctioneer at "A Toast To Women In Wine", a partnership with Wine Spectator magazine to host the nation's premier celebration of female winemakers and fine cuisine. She can be seen at the podium at Miami's Food and Wine auction and the Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic Foundation. Elyse formerly on the staff of Christie's is an appraiser in popular culture and was a regular on the tv program "Antiques Roadshow". She currently is one of five hosts on PBS "History Detectives" and has been the appraiser of the yearly HGTV special "The Longest Yard Sale" and the popular HGTV "If Walls Could Talk" and is a contributor on the Nate Berkus Show as an appraiser.

I've watched and admired Elyse Luray on these shows and have been impressed with her knowledge and research skills. I give this a 5 star rating for the easy read, simple to use guide book to have on hand in every kitchen.
