National SIDS Awareness Month Giveaway!

Halo Logo
After losing a daughter to SIDS, founder of Halo, Bill Schmid researched and developed products that would encourage safer and healthier sleeping for infants and give parents peace of mind.  Since 1994, the Halo Sleep Sack has been keeping babies warm throughout the cold night and making a safer sleeping environment to help reduce the occurrence of  SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
Halo Sleep Sack
The Halo Sleep Sack and Halo Swaddle are made to replace blankets in the crib that can cover a baby’s face and suppress breathing.  Trusted by Doctors and Hospitals, the Halo Sleep Sack and Halo Swaddle keep babies warm and comfortable throughout the night ensuring that baby sleeps soundly and safely with fewer wake ups and helping to prevent infant deaths.  Parents can rest better too knowing their infant is safe and warm.  Halo is working with Hospitals nationwide to help instruct parents in safer sleeping practices for their infants with their Safer Way To Sleep Initiative and provide NICU and hospital nurseries with wearable sleep blankets.
Halo Sleep Bundle
Halo Safe Sleep Practices:

•    Place baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and at night time.
•    Use a crib that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snuggly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet.
•    Remove all soft bedding and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers and positioners). The American Academy of   Pediatrics suggests using a wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm.
•    Offer a pacifier when putting baby to sleep. If breastfeeding, introduce pacifier after one month or after breastfeeding has been established.
•    Breastfeed, if possible, but when finished, put your baby back to sleep in his or her separate safe sleep area alongside your bed.
•    Never put your baby to sleep on any soft surface (adult beds, sofas, chairs, water beds, quilts, sheep skins etc.)
•    Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
•    Never allow anyone to smoke around your baby or take your baby into a room or car where someone has recently smoked.

If you have someone caring for your infant, a grandparent, sitter, nursery, make sure they too are aware of these prevention practices so you know your infant is in good hands and are following the same safe practices that you do when caring for your infant.  Make sure to pack a Halo Sleep Sack or Swaddle Wearable Blanket for any overnight visits you may make with your infant.
Halo Sleep Sack pink
All throughout the month of October Halo will donate $1 for each new Halo Facebook fan to SIDS Awareness!  You can also keep up on all the latest news about sales and offerings from Halo on Twitter.  The Halo Sleep Sack is now available at Target, including the style featured here.  You can find more information at the Halo website www.halosleep.com regarding SIDS and how to prevent deaths of infants.
Halo 2
We absolutely love the Halo Sleep Sack and baby River seems to sleep longer giving Mommy a much needed rest between feedings.  It’s a comfort to know she won’t be strangled or smothered by blankets during the night, so everyone rests a bit easier.  The Halo Sleep Sack wearable blankets are made of the softest microfiber and feels so soft and cuddly.  We used the Halo Sleep Sack for all three girls, Moyra, Amelie, and now baby River.  We trust the Halo Sleep Sack to keep them warm and comfortable during the night.

Win It!  Halo is graciously giving one of my readers their own Halo Sleep Sack or Swaddle Wearable Blanket for their infant’s safe sleep!  To enter: (Required) Tell me which you prefer, the Sleep Sack or Swaddle for your little one.  Be sure to include a valid email address in your comment or have it readily available in your profile so that I can contact you if you are the winner.

When the watch was first invented it was a necessity; a way to tell the time. Little thought was given to design or style. Bing Our School Needs Contest!

With growing budget cuts for schools around the country many are having to cut back on school programs or a shorter school week to try to compensate. Teachers too are having to spend from their own pockets to get supplies that the classroom or students need to complete projects or school work. Bing understands this and has developed the Our School Needs Contest to help out.

Your School could win up to $100,000! I know our school could really use this for so many things they need. They've had to cut back to a 4 day school week this year. What about your school?

Students can work in groups, classes, or even school-wide to write an essay and take pictures finishing the sentence "Our School Needs: ___________." To enter:
Write an essay (500 to 800 words)
Take pictures (3 to 5 photos)
Film a video (not required, but fun! Maximum of 3 minutes in length)

Any student or teacher from a K-12 school can enter. While students under 18 are encouraged to create the entry, a parent, legal guardian or a teacher must submit it.

Bing will award a quarter-million dollars, divided among four schools—$50,000 to three first-prize winners, and one $100,000 grand prize.

Go Here to enter your school: http://ourschoolneeds.discoverbing.com/?form=MFEHPG&publ=COMMS&crea=EML_MFEHPG_OSN_EnterToWin_MomCentralPR_1x1#fbid=WbN3bYE8rYd&crea=EML_MFEHPG_OSN_EnterToWin_MomCentralPR_1x1&wom=false

There is even a video to help explain the process. Students and teachers can submit entries from now until Friday, October 22nd (Winners will be announced Tuesday, November 9th). There will be 3 categories: grades k‐6, 7 – 9 and 10 – 12. . The overall grand prize winning school will receive $100,000 and each category will have a first prize of $50,000.

The process is simple:

Step 1: Teachers and students can create an entry for their school, including a story of what their
school needs, photos and a video (optional). Students under 18 will need a parent/guardian or
teacher submit the entry on their behalf.

• Step 2: Entries are made available for everyone to see and rate online. The 5 top rated submission
in each category (15 total) is guaranteed a slot in the final panel. Top rated submissions and the
top editors picks will then be turned over to a distinguished panel of judges who will determine the
15 finalists.

• Step 3: Voting begins on October 27.

So What Does Your School Need?  Books, A Gym, A new Bus, Supplies?  Enter your school to win what they really need.

Thank you Bing for taking the initiative in helping schools!

"I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Bing and received a DonorsChoose.org giving code and gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate."

Wordless Wednesday - Sky Full of Hawks

This is a rare and unusual site.  Hawks hard ever are seen together like this.  They are loner birds and normally you might see a mating pair if you're lucky.  But these hawks are gathering together and getting ready to migrate south as the weather cools.  The fields and sky has been taken over by them the past couple days.

The Body Wracked

Several years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, along with my degenerative disk disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. All three of which cause pain of some sort or another. This isn't something I normally talk about, and I don't really know why I'm talking about it now to you, except it's been on my mind lately.

For those of you who don't know what Fibromyalgia is, it has symptoms of aches in the muscles and connective tissues accompanied by fatigue. It's been the fatigue that has been rearing it's ugly head lately and I find myself needing to lay down 3 -4 times a day. About 2 hours after I first get up in the morning, I'm just so exhausted that I have to go lay down again.

I've managed to keep most of the aches and pains at bay for awhile now by taking care of myself, taking lots of vitamins, stretching, exercising, and taking ibuprofen and tylenol when I needed it. But now that the weather is changing, temperatures cooling and biometric pressure quick changes bring on a bit more aches. But it's the fatigue that is worrying me now.

If I post a little less than I normally do, please bear with me. I will still try to do what I can. If my body tells me to rest, then that's what I do. Thank you dear readers for listening and being here. You are my support and happy thought on these dreary days.

RoHTo Eye Relief Lubricant Review & Giveaway!

RoHTo Cool
There are so many things than can irritate your eyes causing dry, itching, red, irritated dry eyes.  And we know that nothing is more important than our eyesight.  Whether it’s eye strain from looking at a computer for hours on end or allergies that cause your irritated eyes, it’s nice to know that Rohto cooling eye drops are available to really relieve your eyes.  Rohto eye drops are one of the many secrets that makeup artists use  to help the stars look and feel better when they have red eyes that they don’t want showing up on camera.

For those of us in the blogging world, computer eye strain happens a lot.  So when I received the Rohto Eye drops to review I was super excited.  Not only dothe long hours at the computer irritate my eyes, but living in the country we get a lot of winds carrying dust and pollen that always seems to find my eyes even when wearing glasses.  Although wearing glasses does help a bit, I still get irritants in my eyes making them feel scratchy, red, and dry.  Rohto Cooling Eye Drops not only relieves the redness, dryness, and irritation but has a secret ingredient to provide a cooling sensation that gives tired eyes a boost.

There are four in the Rohto Eye Drops Line of soothing eye drops:
Rohto Hydra-Lubricating extreme dryness
Rohto Artic-The coolest in the product line for relieving tired eyes
Rohto Cool- Instant relief for everyday redness
Rohto Ice- Instant relief while soothing itch and burn.

Manufactured by the trusted Mentholatum Co., Inc. NY; you know it’s a product to be trusted to your eyes.  I tried the Hydra right away and love the cool instant moisture it gave my tired eyes.  I’ll be carrying it in my purse for constant use when I need it.  The Rohto Cool was also fabulous and gave my eyes a quick pick me up without burning!  I’ll tuck that one away in my first aid kit.

You can keep up to date on all the Rohto Eye Products and Giveaways at Rhoto on Facebook.
RoHTo Cool
Win It!  Rohto is generously giving one of my readers their own Rohto Cooling Eye Drops to try!  The winner will receive a set of Rohto® Hydra and Rohto® Cool!  To Enter: (Required) Tell me who in your family could really use Rhoto Eye Drops.  Be sure to include a valid email address or have it readily available in your profile so that I can contact you if you are the winner.

Shout Fall Play Initiative

I’m an avid proponent of outdoor activities and play time for kids.  It keeps them moving getting exercise and thinking processes begin to spark about the things they discover out of doors.  Shout also knows how important play time is for kids and how dirty kids can get playing outside.  It just comes with the territory with us moms having dirty clothes to wash.  But Shout has gone further to help Moms besides just getting cleaner clothes.  The Shout Go Play Initiative was designed to educate parents on the use of unstructured play time and to inspire families to get outdoors.

Children who participate in unstructured play outdoors will undoubtedly develop fundamental skills like coping and problem solving as well as spark their interests into all that transpires in their world outside.  Shout has teamed up with Growing Tree Toys in this fabulous Go Play Initiative to help parents with kid play time.  You’ll find exceptional learning toys at Growing Tree Toys to help get kids involved in outdoor activities.

Shout was kind enough to send me a few of their fabulous products to help keep the kids clothes clean after their outdoor play time along with a 52 Nature Activities card set from Growing Tree Toys.  This wonderful card set is filled with outdoor activities you can participate in with your child to discover their outdoor world.  I don’t think you’ll ever run out of ideas on outdoor play time with this wonderful card set!  Whether you have one child or a group of camp kids, The 52 Nature Activities Card Set will provide numerous ideas for outdoor play time and learning time.  You can find the 52 Nature Activities card set on Amazon for only $6.95.
Shout_Advanced
And for those pesky grass, or mud stains Shout is there to help parents with that too!  Got a tough stain question?  Shout Stain Solver is there to help you find the right solution to your stain problems.  I was especially excited to try the Shout Advanced Stain Gel on hubby’s pesky shirt collars.  I love the applicator brush for scrubbing those hard to lift stains out.  What I like even more is that you can apply Shout Advances Stain Gel and forget it up to a week before washing!  None of that you have to wash it right this second stuff like most stain removers demand.
Shout_Color_Catcher
And for those of us who forget to separate our clothes before washing or it’s difficult to find the extra time so you just throw it all in the wash together, now there is Shout Color Catcher sheets.  Just throw a sheet into the wash and any color that runs will be caught right on the Shout Color Catcher Sheet and not on your other clothes.  When you have teens that do laundry like we do this is exciting news because teen don’t stop to think if a color will run or not.  We’ve found many a pink t-shirt in the wash after they’ve done a load.  Now we don’t have to worry about that.
Shout_Trigger
Shout clings, penetrates and lifts stains faster so you can get back to wearing your favorite clothes.  Shout is there to help make sure those sports uniforms stay bright and cheery.  Like Zach’s football uniform or Kirsten’s cheerleading uniform.  You’ll want to pick up some shout for your laundry needs.  The Shout trigger applicator makes treating stains a breeze.

What outdoor activities will you and your kids be doing this fall?  Sports, hay rides, leaf raking, or visiting the pumpkin patch to find the perfect pumpkin?  Make sure you have Shout on hand, and the 52 Nature Activities for some wonderful outdoor fun.

Brilliant Lenses Eyeglass Cleaner & Protector Review & Giveaway!

Brilliant Lenses Logo
For those of us who wear glasses all the time or even just for reading, we want them to be clean and clear when we put them on.  If you’re like me taking your glasses on and off continuously throughout the day can make for some really smeared glasses to look through.  And it seems washing them under the faucet can be a pain.  I mean, who has time to do that 20 times a day?  It’s wonderful to know that products like Brilliant Lenses are made to be so convenient that you can just throw it into your purse and have it with you all the time, even when you’re shopping.
Brilliant Lenses Scratch
Now my husband is one of those who treats his glasses roughly.  If he’s not losing them, he’s sitting on them, or laying them on the table with the lenses face down.  That makes for lots of scratches.  So when Brilliant Lenses sent my their Eyeglass Cleaner with Scratch resistance I had to try it out on both my and hubby’s glasses.  It’s great having a Scratch Resistance you can put right on your glasses yourself!  The SR-8 scratch resistance coating adds a protective barrier to lenses to resist scratches and soiling from water, sweat, dust and dirt.  With us living in the country, the dust and dirt is constantly in the air so having that extra protection is a plus!  I must say they cleaned up beautifully using Brilliant Lenses Eyeglass Cleaner!
Brilliant Lenses
The Brilliant Lenses comes in a little kit that includes 2 spray bottles of the cleaner(Double Pack), a micro-fiber cloth that is an ample size, and a draw string bag to carry it with you.  Fits nicely inside a purse or diaper bag.  I think I might even want to put one in our bug out backpacks or the first aid kit so I know we’ll be able to find one when we need it.  Or how about the glove box in the car?    What is even more impressive is that you can use Brilliant Lenses Eyeglass Cleaner on any  type of lenses.   So I can spray it on my sunglasses for that extra protection too.  I’m going to have to hunt down all our extra pair of eyeglasses and sunglasses and clean them all now before I forget.  Brilliant Lenses Eyeglass Cleaner can be purchased online in the double pack for $7.99 or a single pack for $4.99 at Get Cleaners Online.
Brilliant Lenses 4
Win It!:  Get Cleaners Online is graciously giving one of my readers their own Live Brilliantly Brilliant Lenses Eyeglass Cleaner and  Scratch Protector to try on their glass and sunglasses!  To Enter: (required)  You must fan Brilliant Lenses on Facebook or Follow BrilliantLenses on Twitter.   Add an extra entry if you do both.  Be sure to include a valid email address in your comment or have it readily available in your profile so that I can contact you if you are the winner.  Please make sure your profile is public or I can’t contact you.

Worried about rankings?

I found an interesting post for those of you who worry about rankings. Your Impact Matters has an interesting post that just might make you feel a little bit better about rankings, and you can chime in on the conversation and make suggestions.

A Sad Day At Baba's Farm

This morning we awoke to find our prize Boer Billy had passed sometime in the night. Not only was it a great financial loss, but he was a favorite of my hubby. They were very close buddies. He could be a stubborn cus at times, and hubby would just nudge him until he went where he was supposed to.

Though we never named him really like you would normally name a pet. We just called him Billy or The Old Man. Still we feel the loss just the same.  Of course loss of an animal is a normal part of farm life, and there will probably be others.

Since he was our only Billy goat, we'll have to purchase another. Hopefully we can find another papered Boer for our little herd.
