Evolve Showerstart Technology Review & Giveaway!
Going green and saving energy is on everyone's mind today or it certainly should be. And thanks to companies like Evolve there are more and more ways to help you in your efforts in saving energy and saving money on your electric bill. Evolve's Showerstart Technology showerheads mean you don't have to suffer with low flow showers any longer. You can still get a great invigorating shower and save water and energy at the same time without sacrificing water pressure for the shower experience you are looking for and love.
Evolve was generous enough to send me one of their newest to try out for myself. I received the Water Lily with Showerstart Technology and I must say that we are loving this shower head. Who would have thought a showerhead could be so eco-friendly and still provide a great shower experience! With the Water Lily the water pressure stays at 2.5 gpm so we aren't losing the expected pressure when we go to take our shower. It was so easy to install and only took a few minutes.
It's become a common factor for many of us to multi task while our shower is getting hot. In fact about 75% of us do this. We run to check on the kids, or grab another cup of coffee, or maybe even to answer the ringing phone, but now we don't have to add wasting water and energy to that. Evolve's Showerstart technology automatically shuts off the showerhead when the water reaches 95 degrees to a trickle so your shower can be ready when you are. Saving hot water from going down the drain and the energy it cost to heat it. Ultimately saving you money on your electric and water bills. How smart is that kind of savings?!
Of course the Water Lily isn't the only style that Evolve has to choose from, in fact there are several from rain showerheads, standard showerheads, handhelds, and even the Ladybug adapter if you already have a showerhead that you love. You can still get the showerstar technology for your showerhead with the lady bug adapter. Each Evolve showerhead is covered under a three year warrenty guarantee to be free of defects in materials and workmanship.
It's wonderful working with a company that is not only concerned about the environment but in helping every household to do their part and save them money too. That's why Evolve has made their Showerstart technology affordable to everyone to use, ranging in price from $29.95 for the chrome polish lady bug to $129.95 for the brushed chrome Emperor handheld. And the people at Evolve have added a video assistant to help you understand just how the showerstart technology can help you. With Evolve's showerheads you'll find solid brass fittings, contemporary European design, and anti-clog spray nozzles you know you and feel the sense of luxury in your own bathroom.
Evolve is graciously giving one of my readers their own Water Lily Rain Showerhead! How fantastic is that!? To enter just visit Evolve and tell me which of Evolves many showerheads or handhelds you think you would love to try. Infantino Twist & Fold Activity Gym
I have to say that baby River has loved playing on her Infantino Twist & Fold Activity Gym. Play time is something new for her because at only 9 weeks old now she is still working on focusing and recognizing faces and discovering that she can move her arms and legs. The Twist & Fold Activity Gym has helped her become more active and interested in seeing the colors and shapes of the little toys hanging above her. I know we'll be using this one a lot for many months to come.
In my last posting I forgot to tell you one important thing when using the Infantino Twist & Fold Activity Gym, and that is to make sure you press down on the cross bar at the top so that it is flat for greater stability. Then when you want to put it away just twist the knob on top and it folds right up for easy storage or to take it with you. Of course it is so cute you could just leave it open on the floor of the nursery for everyday play time for baby. For the best in baby playtime and travel be sure to check out all that Infantino has to offer. Infantino is a company you can trust for your baby.
I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for Infantino and have received various Infantino products to as part of my participation.

Mom robbed of knowing her children, Sad reunion
One California mother lost her children when her ex-husband kidnapped her toddler children in 1995. After the recent upsurge in social media sites Mom took the chance and looked and found her teenage daughter on facebook according to C-Net. They began correspondence but the daughter didn't want to have a relationship and her facebook profile was deleted. Mom then sought help with police officials who subsequently found the father and children living in Florida where the father was arrested and the children taken into custody of Social Services.
I can't imagine the heartbreak this Mother has and is enduring all these years. Her two children don't know her and apparently don't want to know her. Teenage struggles I'm sure are a contributing factor and it will probably take several year to build a bond up again with her children. Thank God they were found safe and unharmed, but still...
Such a sad tale of lives disrupted. You can be sure counseling will be advised and may be required for some length of time. Could you endure it?

Chocolate Beer?!
I'm not normally a beer drinker though I will have a cold one once or twice during the summer if I'm too hot and if it's offered. But I'm thinking I may just have to change my ways and hunt this down come July. The beer called Theobroma is based on molecular evidence found by a molecular archeologist Patrick McGovern from the University of Pennsylvania based on an ancient beverage from Central America which includes cocoa, cocoa beans, and chilies. Theobroma will be available in the United States and British Columbia sometime in July so watch for it.
For those who hate the taste of beer, this just might offer something tasty for the palate. Yum - Chocolate! Several other new variety of beer will be coming on the market as well. It's amazing what science can find today and beer ingredients are just one. The answer is getting the recipe right as reported by thestar.com Let's hope this one is delicious.

The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran
I have to say I love the research that goes into every book that is written by Michelle Moran! She digs deep until she knows her subject material as much as possible. Though there are many things yet unknown about life in Egypt during the reign of Rameses the Great, Michelle has filled the pages of The Heretic Queen with fascinating detail to place the reading right inside these pages of the past.
Life in any court whether that of Pharaoh or Henry Tudor is filled with spies; ambition; intrigue; and death and certainly Rameses and his Queen Nefertari were as well. Though it can't be entirely factual because there is much we don't know, this tale will keep you glued to it's pages just like it did me. Historical fiction is one of my favorite ways to spend reading time and The Heretic Queen I absolutely loved! Thanks for another great read Michelle!

Aloha Friday
Another week has gone by and thankfully it's Friday where we will join Kailani over at An Island Life for Aloha Friday because in Hawaii they like to take things easy on Fridays and so do we. So I'll ask just one simple question that doesn't require a lengthy response.
My question for you today is: Discounting family members - if there was a wild fire coming what three things would you grab to take with you from your home?

Secrets of The Tudor Court-The Pleasure Palace by Kate Emerson
How is it a child not of nobility ends up in the protective care of King Henry VII being raised at court and lady service to princess Mary and princess Margaret? What secrets will be revealed about her Mother and Father and their relationship to the death of the French monarch? Will Jane Popyncourt forsake true love for finding out the truth?
I loved reading The Pleasure Palace for the somewhat historical truths alone, and the story in fact was intriguing. Based on an actual persons in the court of Henry VIII, you'll love reading this tale as much as I did, I'm sure. A great read for sitting in the shade of a cool porch on a summers day. Bring a cool drink with you to calm those moments of passion reading.

My Weekend Yard Sale Finds- Oooooo Treasure!
I love going to garage sales/yard sales to see what I can pick up to use, to decorate with, to restore. My daughter asked me to go with her this weekend, the only problem was I had to be ready to go at 7:00 am! That's early for me, but I managed to be ready with coffee cup in hand filled to the brim with my Coffeemate Hazelnut creamer of course! I was going to really need the pick-me-up for that early in the morning. I am so not a morning person!
We hit 4 yard sales in the next town over which happens to be really close, only about a 15 minute drive if that. Right away at the first house stop I spotted these two beauties and picked them up for $10 each. Since hubby and I have restored a few trunks already I knew these would be no problem and I love them for the extra blanket and keepsake storage. Of course I had to call hubby to come pick them up for me. I think we own about 10 of these now. Is it time to stop?
Stop number 2 yielded a roasting pan (much needed since my daughter uses my other one so much), and some Blue Willow dishes- 2 plates and 3 bowls to match my every day dishes. Just $1.00 for the dishes and $1.00 for the roasting pan. Nice to have extras.
At house number 3, I found some lovely linens and a lace tablecloth to use around the house. There is just something about linens and lace that I can't resist. Though I am not sure how I will use these yet, maybe as they are, or maybe make some pillows. We'll see what my imagination comes up with when my sewing room is ready. Each was only .25 so a real bargain!
House number 4 found me getting excited about sewing again with these two dress patterns for the girls and some red and white netting for possible room decor or tutus. I'll put them away for the sewing room. Only .10 for the patterns and .25 for the netting. Gotta love that!
Then we traveled into the town of Lamar to see what their yards sales would tempt us with. My daughter talked me into getting these two red chairs. They are comfortable to sit in and cute in style and we could use them in the master bed room. I'm not sure about the red though and may be recovering them some time in the future. The chairs were only $10 each.
I also found this little nightstand. I love having lots of these not only for the bed side but you can use them anywhere; in an entry way; on a porch; as a side table next to the sofa. Yes it needs refinished but we've done lots of refinishing in our time ( we used to have our own shop) so it's not something we can't handle. Only $1.00 for the nightstand.
To end our day I found this little iron and leather strop to decorate The Stone House with for only $1.00 each. Can you tell we love old things? What finds have you come across lately?
