Plantings Parade

Along with celebrating Easter this past weekend, we began our planting season adding a few beauties to the yard at The Stone House.  We just couldn't wait any longer to get these babies in the ground and off to a good start.  Is there anything better than getting you hands in the dirt with the hopes of a bountiful harvest to come?!

At the end of our garden rows we planted some healthy Blueberries and Thornless Blackberries.  Both the Blueberries and the Thornless Blackberries we picked up at Walmart for $10.00 each.  Of course for two days this week we'll have to cover them at evening because the temperatures are supposed to drop below freezing according to the weather report.  Fun!

After 80 degree weather dropping down to freezing temperatures is a bit extreme but that's Colorado weather for you.  Wait 5 minutes and it will change is our motto and it holds true.  Though it's not always to everyone's liking.

After planting the Blackberries and Blueberries we had lilacs to plant as well.  Many, many lilacs.  I purchased 4 beauties from Spring Hill who was having a 1cent sale.  Buy one get the second for 1 cent.  And lilacs are one of my favorites so I couldn't resist.  I bought 2 Primrose Lilacs which have a bright yellow bloom and look so pretty.

I also purchased 2 Beauty of Moscow Lilacs which have a pretty pink bloom and can't wait to see these lovelies when they grow to full height.  Both lilacs are full sun loving plants and we have plenty of sunshine at The Stone House.

We also planted about 6 other lilacs that we got from our Son-in-law who was digging up some shoots to move.  This is a great way to get young lilacs for your own yard if you know someone who has any.  We are still waiting for our fruit trees which haven't arrived yet that we ordered from  Gurneys at the same time that we ordered the lilacs on March 2, 2010.  Let's hope they get here soon.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith

Could Vampires have been the real reason behind the Civil War and our 16th President's passion for our nation?  An interesting concept and a thoroughly great read.  Overlooking the fabulous photo editing you can get a glimpse of some of the greatest photos of this epic era of our nation's history.  Of course I am a history buff at heart and this Civil War era is one of my favorites.  Perhaps because some of my ancestors participated in the Civil War or perhaps just because I love history - who knows.

But I do know that you will love reading Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter written in a biographical styling that pulls the reader into the ink of it's pages.  This New York Times best selling author of Pride And Prejudice And Zombies once again has thrilled it's readers with a mingling of history and fiction.  I rather like this new method of writing as it gives me a touch of both worlds.  Be sure to pick up a copy for your Vampire loving readers!

A Simply Fun Easter

Although Moyra and Amelie are too young to understand what Easter is all about they were thrilled to hear that Daddy went out to hide Easter Eggs and they had to find them.  They both love being outdoors and having to find Easter Eggs was like finding treasure to them.

Daddy hid them all down low so they were pretty easy for the girls to find and really they did a great job on their own without too much help.  They got so excited when they found an egg it was just so cute to watch them.  It didn't take Amelie long to discover she could crack them either.  Nor did she want to give up her eggs once she found them.

After finding all the eggs they got to chase and catch or try to catch bubbles as Daddy, Mommy, and Baba blew bubbles in the air.  The birds were really singing!  I guess they were as glad as we were that it was such a beautiful day.

You Can Roll Over Without Being a Rollover!

Being selected by Mom Central to be part of the Cottonelle Blog and twitter tour was great for me because this has been  an issue in our house since my husband and I were first married 38 years ago.  Haha that's a long time to have it unsettled.  Thankfully it's finally settled with the results of the great roll over or under debate.

Cottonelle has just developed a new toilet tissue that is stronger and softer!   I was sent a package to try out and I have shared a roll with my daughters house for them to try too.  Right away we noticed how soft it felt just by touching it I could tell it was really soft.  Then I tried it.  It was really strong.  No soggy crumbling mess like some tissue I have used in the past.  I know you ladies know what I'm talking about.   This new Cottonelle will certainly keep hands cleaner, bottoms will thank you for using it.  I am really liking this new Cottonelle!

Meet Ponijao

Ponijao lives in Namibia with her family, including her parents and eight older brothers and sisters. Ponijao’s family is part of the Himba tribe, and lives in a small village with other families, following traditions including speaking their own (Himba) language. The men in the Himba tribe are generally off looking after the cattle and searching for grass, so Ponijao is most often with her mother and other female relatives; she plays, eats, and is bathed through the traditional method of mixing concrete red ochre with oil. Ponijao’s favorite things to do are dance and play with other children in the tribe.

For Miranda and her best friend Lucy a couple cute guys can be trouble.  Not just trouble - but deadly.   Luckily Miranda has a guardian angel looking out for her.  Zachery in his haste to protect Miranda shows himself for who he really is(guardian angel) and loses his wings as a consequence.  Now his task is not only to redeem himself and get his wings back; but he must save Miranda too who has been turned into the Princess adopted daughter of the head of the  local Vampire Royalty (or eternals) as they prefer to be called.  Forced to now be a human Zachery manages to get hired on as the Princess's personal assistant, to not only be near her but to take on the head Drac himself. 

I found Eternal to be a quick fun read and would recommend it to those 12 and older for entertainment reading.  Lots of action, and  a bit of teen romance.  Then of course who doesn't love Vampires these days!  Be sure to pick up a copy.
