Pretend Play Progresion

I find it fascinating watching my grand-daughters play and it's interesting to note that what strikes me are things that never did when I was mothering my two children. I notice little things like their progressions in playtime and their ability to pretend has gone in steady increases.

Playtime first started as snuggling with a comfy stuffed animal or chewing on a baby toy. It developed into copying mom and dad with the telephone and play dishes with pretending to talk on the phone to auntie Sarah or another family member. Stirring a pot to make something yummy just like Mommy does; Or giving loves and kisses to a baby doll.

Just recently we have had another milestone in pretend play from the 3 year old. She came up to me yesterday and said "The princess is in danger Baba", "She's not in the dungeon." "Where is the princess Baba?" We had a whole discussion with this repeating and her wanting to play find the princess with me. My guess is that she got this scene from watching the movie "Despereaux", but I found it fascinating that her pretend play had advanced to that level. Of course the 1 year old is at the stage where she likes to copy everything her big sister does but her language skills are not yet as articulate as the 3 year old's. I'm anxious to see what comes next in their pretend play levels.

Golden Moon Teas For Your Tea Lover

My daughter and I both love a good steaming cup of tea on cold days, on sick days, on days for just relaxing and pampering. Golden Moon Teas have something for every teal lover you know. Green Teas, Black Teas, White Teas, and several flavor blends or exotic blends to tantalize the palate, in either single blends or sample gift packages. Of course many tea lovers prefer earl grey tea and they have that as well. You'll want to stop in and check them out. I'll be telling you more about Golden Moon Teas in the future so stay tuned.

Babysitting Baba BooBoos

Today I babysat my 3 year old grand-daughter while Mommy and Daddy took the 1 year old for a checkup in town. After lunch and a quick movie I laid Moyra down in her crib for nap time. She is usually really good about naps and goes right to sleep. But not today.

Her room is connected to Mommy and Daddy's room and they often use a gate to keep the toddlers out, but today Baba forgot to put up the gate when she laid Moyra down for her nap and closed the door thinking she would go right to sleep. Ha!

Mom and Dad got home and went to check up on Moyra and found her in their room hold a pair of scissors with which she had cut off some of her long hair in front. She had also found some charcoal and had smeared it all over Mom & Dad's sheets! I never heard a peep from her room and thought she was sleeping. The bedding has been washed and the hair cut is not terribly noticeable but Baba is feeling pretty badly that she didn't put up the gate between rooms. A mistake I won't make again. I forgot how quiet toddlers can be when they want to.

Double Homicide by Jonathan & Faye Kellerman

Anyone who loves a good murder mystery has read Jonathan Kellerman books and Faye Kellerman talent matches Jonathan's in every way. This husband and wife team have brought mystery to a new level in DOUBLE HOMICIDE BOSTON and DOUBLE HOMICIDE SANTA FE
. Two tales in one book: one takes place in Boston surrounding the death of a promising basketball star; the other takes place in Santa Fe with the death of a prominent art dealer. Of course numerous suspects for both and an investigative team that makes the whole story worthwhile as you enter into their lives.

I've always love a good mystery and to find two in one was a treat from Warner Books, New York. A quick read that will hold your interest available in Hard Copy and paperback. Loved it!

NEC AccuSync LCD194WXM Monitor

In our need to reserve a bit more desk space Hubby and I decided we needed to find a flat screen monitor for our desktop computer and get rid of the bulky overweight Dell monitor that we had. Dont' get me wrong, we were very happy with how the Dell monitor performed, but we needed something that didn't take up half the desk. We also didn't want to spend a fortune. Well, maybe not literally a fortune, but we didn't have all that much to spend on one.

But I was lucky enough to win a $50 GC from NoBetterDeal.com and found a great deal on this NEC AccuSync LCD194WXM 19" monitor. The monitor was on sale at a reasonable price and using the $50 GC made it all the more affordable for us so I ordered it right away. I was really surprised when it shipped right away and I had it within just a few days!

The set up was super easy to do, just plug it in, nothing complicated about it at all and so far we are really pleased. I am not very big, but I managed to set it all up myself so it's very light weight. A big plus since our other monitor weighed a ton! Not really a ton, but it weighed too much for me to lift it very far. Luckily I had a chair right next to the desk and only had to move it a few inches.

"Designed for those who want a spacious screen that will not hog their entire desk. The 5 ms response time of this screen makes it ideal for fast-moving games and for watching movies." The colors are light and vibrant and I can read things much easier. I am still trying to figure out how to "fit to screen". Guess I should really look it up online, because no directions for that adjustment came with it. That would be my only suggestion. All in all a very nice monitor! And a great deal that we couldn't pass up.

I was paid no monetary compensation for this review and all opinions are my own. The product I purchased on my own.

Shiny Water By Anna Salter

It's not often that I find a good mystery book where I can't guess who the bad guy is ahead of time. Shiny Water
by Anna Salter has enough turns and suspects that you really don't know until the very last minute. Yes of course I had my guesses, but with the characters in Shiny Water Anna keeps us guessing until the end.

A Forensic Psychologist; a custody battle; 2 children murdered; 2 off balanced parents; on edge court scene; and insights into the criminal mind all come together in this gripping tale. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Shiny Water and was frankly surprised at how much considering my copy was a Pocket Book paperback and reasonably inexpensive to purchase. Amazon carries it in Hardcopy and paperback forms and I would enthusiastically recommend picking one up.

My Baby is No Baby Happy Birthday Janeen

Today is my first born's birthday. She has become such an amazing person that my heart explodes with joy seeing and speaking to her each day. She is extremely intelligent and articulate, and knowledgeable about so many things. Her computer skills awe me and many others who seek her guidance.

But most important is the beautiful loving mother she has become. Her children all love and adore her and she takes time to spend moments with each and every one of them each day. Having two teens and two babies and another on the way, keeping house, enjoying time with her hubby and running two business out of the home, along with home schooling is no easy task. She is tenacious to be sure.

She may be a grown adult with children of her own, but I am still a very proud mom. Happy Birthday Janeen!

2010 Resolution?

I have never really been one to make New Years resolutions because I guess I was never able to stick to a plan of attack to accomplish them. There was always something to come along and change things. Actually planning anything for me tends to turn into a disaster so after several disasters I stopped making plans for anything. The tendency to be disappointed to the point of depression was too much to handle for my emotional make up. Not making plans works for me. I am a much happier person. Spur of the moment is so much more fun anyway!

Sure there are things that I would like to accomplish and I will work towards those on my own timing or I should say God's timing because he is the one in control anyway. I just go where he leads. And I am perfectly happy to let him take charge.

What would I love to happen in this New Year?

Finish the Stone House!
Makeover the look of my Blog
Connect with my friends more and let them know I love and think of them so much.
Find a friend who lives close to me, a really good friend.
Get more organized
Set up an emergency preparedness plan.
More gardening, more canning.

Lord willing these are on God's plan for me too for 2010, and I will let him take the lead in what ever direction he has planned for me. I'll be keeping you all in my prayers for the coming year that He may bless you greatly and make your lives as joyous as mine is right now! Happy New Year to you all!

Technorati- What The?

Just feeling a bit discouraged and confused about what is happening with technorati. Well I should say has happened. Went to check my technorati score to apply with a company to represent their products and I've gone from a score of 100 down to 1. What is with that? Can someone please explain it to me. What am I ever going to be able to do with a 1? OMG. At this point I'm thinking why do I even bother?
