The Stone House

New tree sapling planted
Mulberry Fruits
Mexican Squash growing at The Stone House
Bird Trio Sculptures
Front view of Birds

Saturday hubby and I spent some time at the Stone House taking over another load of his sculptures and planting some tree saplings that we harvested from our daughter's property. The grandson was doing some yard work there and they had to be taken out so we decided to give them a second chance at life on our property just down the road. They are a bit shocked right now and we are hoping they come out of it and are taking extra care of them, but we shall see. If one or two don't make it, that's ok, at least we tried. We planted them in a row along a back fence next to the goat pens and they are fast growing trees so it will look sharp once they are established. I'm not sure if they are a Cottonwood or an Elm but I know they grow fast. I really should check on this stuff before I go to write about it, DUH!

We have a bit of rain lately so the weeds are growing fast as you can tell in the photo. We need to get the goats on them soon, lol. But we'll need to repair the fencing around the goat pens first and lately it's been too dang hot. Maybe today we can get to some of that. We'll see.

I wanted to show you what Mulberry looks like. We have tons of Mulberry trees around the Stone House and will be making some jam from the fruits. The trees are loaded with them. I haven't made Mulberry jam yet, but everyone swears that it's delicious so I will be looking for receipes.

These bird sculptures that hubby made are the cutest things. The smallest one has a nest and eggs along with 3 baby birds that look as if they are crying out for mama to feed them. Then there is the mama and papa birds. Though we aren't sure exactly where their final placement will be at The Stone House at least they are there now. Still lots more sculptures to move.

We are still waiting on the electrical company to bring in a new power pole since they finally decided our power pole was just too ragged looking and I must say that it really was ragged looking. We thought they were going to come on Friday but that didn't happen and they don't work weekends because that would be extra pay, so it looks like Monday or Tuesday for the power pole work. Enjoy your weekend.

Coffee Mate Has New Flavors

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a Coffee Fiend! It's my beverage of choice no matter where I go and I usually carry a cup with me at all times, often to the dismay of my family. It's usually a large cup so I don't run out when I go anywhere and finding the right cup has been a problem. But I have found the perfect creamer! I am totally in love with Coffee Mate creamers and my absolute favorite is their Hazelnut creamer. I am a new member of the Coffee Mate Brew Crew so I love to tell you about all their flavors! Coffee Mate has tons of flavors to choose from and now they are adding even more to their international flavors. You'll find ads in many of your favorite magazines announcing their new flavors so you'll want to check them out. I am definitely going to try the Vanilla Chai Spice which comes highly recommended. And the new Coconut Creme. LOL, who am I kidding, I'll probably try them all because I love my coffee!

The Stone House - Work Week

Concrete gone from porch. Yay!
Wooden Cart hubby crafted and daisy flower sculpture
Metal Sculpture "Winter Wheat"

Another burn pile started.

With hubby home this past week we've been able to do a bit more work around the Stone House. Not much inside yet because we are still waiting for the electrical set up to the pole outside. But a lot more work outside has been done.

Planting trees, trimming trees, taking trees out, We've been in treedom at the Stone House this week. The baby Osage Orange trees are doing fabulous and more are popping up every day. Our baby Colorado Blue Spruce are doing great too that we planted flanking the driveway.

Hubby has been taking some of his metal yard sculptures to the Stone House too although they aren't in permanent places just yet because there is so much more yard work to complete and a lot more of his artwork to move. The neighbors all enjoy the artwork and drive by to look then compliment him when we see them in town. He's even gotten a couple commissions this way. Custom gates, and trellises. And of course lot's of repair work for the neighbors too who have broken metal chairs or what not. If he has the time he doesn't mind doing repair work for our neighbors. He's just that way.

We got the giant concrete slabs moved off the porch as you can see so we can work on the facade and posts for the porch soon. We also managed to haul a few more stones matching the Stone House and are getting some more today.

We have a new burn pile started and I'm hoping this will be the last one, but we'll see. Wile driving around we noticed some of our neighbors have burn piles started too so I guess it's the new in thing. See what you can start when you aren't even trying? LOL
