Safe Organic Gardening
Every year my husband and I put in a garden for growing vegetables to help feed the family and some years I just want to scream at the results. We try very hard to stay organic using only fertilizers from the farm and staying away from chemicals found in pesticides and many store brand fertilizers. In recent years we have had a major ant problem. Normally I just leave ants alone and let them do their thing but these are the nasty fire ants and with my little grandchildren nearby I just want them gone. I may have finally found the solution to eliminate those pesky buggers using Safer Brand Organic Pest Control and can have confidence that my garden will remain organic at the same time.
Safer Brand products have been recommended by Designing Spaces’ host Jodi Dombrowski and Woodstream Corp’s Karolyn Warfel because of their completely organic solutions to dealing with pests and disease that affect any garden. Watch the video here. If you love to garden and you have a pest problem to deal with or a disease affecting your garden you'll want to stop in at Safer Brand to find the solution right for you.organic gardening

Dear IRS,
I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to pay taxes owed April 15, but all is not lost.
I have paid these taxes: accounts receivable tax, building permit tax, CDL tax, cigarette tax, corporate income tax, dog licence tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gasoline tax, hunting licence tax, fishing licence tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax, inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, medicare tax, city, school and county property tax (up 33 percent last 4 years), real estate tax, social security tax, road usage tax, toll road tax, state and city sales tax, recreational vehicle tax, state franchise tax, state unemployment tax, telephone federal excise tax, telephone federal state and local surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state and local tax, utility tax, vehicle licence registration tax, capitol gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and New Mexico sales tax, and many more that I can’t recall but I have run out of space and money.
When you do not receive my check April 15, just know that it is an honest mistake. Please treat me the same way you treated Congressmen Charles Rangle, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and ex-Congressman Tom Dashelle and, of course, your boss Timothy Geithner. No penalties and no interest.
P.S. I will make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check.

I Need A New Phone!
I am probably one of the last bloggers online without a cell phone. It's true, I don't have one. I'm still connected to a land line. I so want this one pictured above. It's the Samsung Renown for Verizon in bronze color. Not only is the color beautiful, but it has a 2.0 Megamixel camera, Bluetooth Wireless technology, Multiple messaging, music, texting and video capabilities as well. How cool is that? And this phone will work globally! I can take it anywhere in the world staying connected to those I love. Not that I do a lot of traveling, but it's nice to know.
I would love this phone to be able to take pictures of my grandbabies to catch them in those cute moments. It also can take pictures at night! Like when you go out to your favorite restaurant. Especially if you see a celebrity and want to take a picture. What a treat that would be! Of course in my little town the chances of that happening are nil, but you never know. I mean if you're going to get a cell phone you might as well get one of the best! And right now the guys over at TestFreaks are giving away 3 phones! I've got my eyes on this one though. Go check them out.

I'm A New Great Aunt To Twins!
My sister Pat sent me an email letting me know that she is in Arizona with her daughter Lacy who just had twins. Baby girls who are both doing fine along with mom.
I am proud to announce the arrival of Aurora Rose Bowers at 6 lbs 9 oz and Ava Abagail Bowers 6lbs 6oz. Don't they just look beautiful!
Twins tend to run in my family without using fertility aids. My sister Linda had twins, a girl and a boy who are now grown. And now Pat's daughter has twins. I keep hoping my daughter will have twins too someday, but either way it's wonderful just having babies is a joy not matter how many you have at one time. I love babies!

Fingernails? What Are Those?
When I lived in the city I had lovely fingernails. Long and polished and beautiful nails. My girlfriends and I would sit and do our nails together often or have them done at the beauty shop every now and then. Ahhh I remember well.
Today living in the county I am lucky to have any stub of a nail left. When I do manage to get one to grow a bit it breaks or chips within a day or two. They break doing laundry, they break getting into the car, they break opening the front door, they break picking up my baby grand-daughter. I just want to scream!
Then too, living on a farm, my nails are always dirty. Don't feel rejected if I don't shake your hand when we meet. It's not you. It's because I would be too ashamed to put out my hand because I know invariable that my fingernails are dirty and disgusting looking and I don't want to subject you to that filthiness. I would have to excuse myself to go wash up before shaking your hand and you would probably be gone then wondering who this crazy lady is?
I haven't quite given up yet on having beautiful nails again just yet. I have to look at my nails several times a day to make sure they are clean and every now and then I even put polish on my nails. But that's usually because I am going to visit my girlfriends. If you are coming for a visit, better let me know ahead of time and I do my nails for your too. LOL

Need Chairs For Your Restaurant?

You may or may not be opening a restaurant, but sometimes your dining room can feel like one. We have been looking at chairs and bar stools for The Stone House project and I've found a site that carries both chairs and matching bar stools! That's a rariety! And if you are opening a restaurant or looking to replace your chairs at home this is the site for you!
At Fashion Seating they truly care about your decor and the latest fashions for your dining area. You'll find seating of wood, metal, bamboo, even aluminum, with several styles and selections to choose from so your customers in your restaurant will remember how comfortable they felt when they were seated at your table and your family will remember too.
Fashion Seating also has available commercial restaurant table tops and bases to order if you are in need so you can get everything at one great place. Though the tables are not quite what we need for the Stone House I am sure loving the chairs and bar stools and the prices are fantastic! You can see my favorite picks above. Go find yours!commercial restaurant furniture

Pancake Dinner - For a Cause
Hubby rushed home from work last night and as he walked in the door said "Come on, we are going to the school for a pancake dinner". Pancakes for dinner?! While pancakes are not one of my favorite things to eat for any meal, he said it was for a good cause so we went. It turns out that the Lion's Club here sponsors scholarships for the senior kids to assist them in attending college.
We had a great dinner with pancakes, eggs, and sausage and got a chance to visit with friends that I rarely see because I don't get out much. It was fun.
While we were there, they also had available hammers to purchase for $17.00 to support the Susan G. Koman breast cancer awareness. I purchased a hammer, not only to support such an important cause, but because the hammer is pink and I can finally have one of my own! I love my new pink hammer! And it's a good heavy duty hammer not one of those cheap things. So if you love doing little projects around the house like I do I recommend getting one of these hammers for yourself.
The Lion's also put on a bingo game after the pancake dinner, but we had to rush back home to move new mother goats and their babies so we didn't stay to play bingo. It sounded like a lot of fun though and we might attend one of their regular bingo night at another time. The evening turned out to support two great causes so it was ok that I had pancakes for dinner. I didn't mind this time.

Book Review - Across The Pond
Across The Pond by Storyheart is delightful quick read filled with the budding young love of two teenagers Brit and Fred. Fred (Fredrick) travels across from England to the United States to stay with friends of his parents Phil and Julie and their young daughter Brit while his parents enjoyed a dream vacation to Australia that they had won in a contest. In his short stay in New York Fred becomes the hero not only to the young Brit but also to her parents and the parents of Brits friends who have been injured by the cad Steve Harris who thinks he can do anything he wants to girls and get away with it. The story is filled with the love of Baseball, language lessons, sightseeing and intrigue as well as a few giggles thrown in. I found myself joyous when the CAD gets his comeuppance and empathized with all the young girls in the story. As an advanced reader I was wishing for a bit more character development but then realized that this is a book for younger readers and one they they will love. It is not too long like a novel would be so it's one they will stick with to the end and enjoy every minute. I give it a thumbs up!

The Stone House - We Found More Stone Houses
This old stone barn is on a farm owned by the same family for 100 years! They were very nice to talk with and spent some time with Hubby while I sat in the car taking photos.

This well along side the barn is the first well drilled in this area and is surrounded by the same stone. It was dug by hand around the year 1900.

This old Stone Barn we found in the middle of a local town! I am not sure what it is being used for right now; maybe a meeting house or maybe not at all. It was hard to tell.

Look at the character of this old barn structure!
Remember I told you how many Stone Houses had been built in our area? Well Hubby and I found some more to show you when we took a drive the other day. Keep in mind that many of these were built using stone from the Old Ft. Lyon and New Bent's Fort when they were moved. But others were build using stone from quarries in our area. Most are sandstone that have really stood the test of time. I just love these old buildings that I know have just a fantastic history to them by just looking at the character of the structures. I try to picture myself back in those days when the structure was new and imagine what kind of activities were taking place in the vicinity; who was walking down the streets; how they were dressed; what type of conversations might have taken place; the children playing. Ahhh I just love all things old! Visiting all these Stone Houses is one of our Colorado Things To Do.
It's Almost Easter!
Wow! This year is going by so fast! Can you believe that Easter is almost here? Easter is one of my favorite Holidays to celebrate with the family. We always share a big family meal at Easter to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. But we do other things as well, like coloring Easter eggs and hiding them for the little ones to find. Hiding extra little goodies too like a special egg that will win money for the one who finds it or a special chocolate bunny. We try to do something new every year. And now I've found a site that can help me with planning our Easter celebration.
Celebration.com has a fantastic array of ways to make your Easter celebration a great event. They even have ways to get the kids involved! Ways to decorate, easter table decorations, menu planning recipes, party ideas, crafts; what to drink, and activities to do.
How about make colorful feathered Easter Baskets this year? Or Crafty bunny egg cups? Maybe you are planning a rack of lamb for dinner instead of the usual ham. Celebration.com can help with all your planning this Easter. And not just for Easter, but for any holiday celebration including Christmas, Thanksgiving, Birthdays, Theme Parties, Mother's Day, any event you celebrate. I love this site and you will too.

How's Your Health
I am a firm believer in taking vitamin supplements and I have several that I take daily. But I am also a firm believer in everything natural so the supplements that I take are the most natural on the market. More and more doctors every day are beginning to see the results in their patients who take natural vitamin supplements. Especially those patients who are on cholesterol medications and taking Greenpath Beta Glucan to reduce the chance of dangerous side effects of their medications. Greenpath Beta Glucan is all natural and safe and as a supplement it reduces your risk of cancer and removes harmful free radicals from the body using powerful antioxidants.
The Benefits:
- Strengthens your immune system.
- Enhances effectiveness of other antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-parasitic medications.
- Carries a 90% purity guarantee.
- Naturally lowers cholesterol without the harmful side effects associated with prescription cholesterol drugs.
- Sodium, lactose, and gluten-free.
- All natural with no preservatives, coloring or other artificial ingredients.

We've been Vanity Shopping
This is my favorite
With two bathrooms to update in The Stone House we are looking to get some Bathroom Vanities that fit into the decor so we've been shopping around a bit to see what styles are available. Online of course because we live in the country and it's pretty far for us to get to a store. At least a four hour drive. But I found a great site online; Max Vanities has some great looks for any bathroom decor and their discount bathroom vanities prices are great too.
I am not sure if we are going with single or double sinks yet. I don't think we have room enough for a double vanity I still need to measure the space. Two spaces actually; one upstairs in the master bedroom and one downstairs next to the laundry room. I'm thinking one like this for the master bedroom and one much simpler for the downstairs bathroom. Maybe one with open cabinets on the bottom; open shelving. But this one I really, really like!
The variety of styles is fantastic and if you are looking for a bathroom vanity you have to check them out! Beautiful vanity styles at great prices.
